We used to cart in enough Chicken muck annually to enable us to fertilize every field at "Apsley" with ought having to use any compounds. We also used to make "good use" of "digested cake" a product delivered and spread by Southern Water.  This is sewage sludge that has been fully treated in a digester, a composting method. All these products were tested regularly to make sure they complied with current legislation. We also carry out annual soil tests to monitor the  various indices.

We use priled nitrogen to promote plant growth in early spring. The advantage of priled nitrogen is the ease of handling and its accuracy in the method of delivery.
The quantities we use are determined by  our agronomist having ascertained the residual levels in the soil after the winter, and the crop's potential
